Telling the new story - Mrs Cassidy’s web2.0 classroom
So much for the theory, here is a terrific, simple example of web2.0 tools being used in reality, thanks to Kathy Cassidy and her Grade 1 class from Westmount Elementary school in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada. Kathy also spoke recently at the K12 Online Conference 2007, where there are more details and comments.
If YouTube is blocked in school or you’d like to download the file to play offline then click on the link below the video and select ’save to disk’ in order to download and save the video as a flash (.flv) file. You will need to rename the file once it has downloaded and add a ‘.flv’ extension to it.
In general for other YouTube videos, websites like YouTubeX allow you to download YouTube videos and save them as flash files (.flv).
There are free players available for these flash files such as Riva. However, if you would like to convert this flash file to avi or mpg to play in Windows Media Player (or even to ipod or mobile phone-friendly formats) there is a great, free program for Windows called Internet Video Converter that can do this for you and more.
